That’s what makes our Flower Forecast different from any other: it’s first-hand, on-the-ground reporting on exactly how the fields are growing — not a guess from a weather app. If you’re planning a trip to see the blooming tulip fields in Holland in spring 2027, this is the page to follow.

When do the tulips bloom in the Netherlands in 2027?

Tulip season in Holland runs from roughly mid-March to mid-May, with the open fields usually at their most colourful between mid-April and early May. The exact peak shifts a week or two each year depending on winter and early-spring temperatures — a mild winter brings blooms forward, a cold April holds them back.

Period (2027)What you’ll see
Early–late MarchFirst colour: crocuses and daffodils; Keukenhof opens 18 March
Early–mid AprilHyacinths and early tulips; fields starting to colour up
Mid–late AprilPeak: tulip fields in full bloom — the best time for the fields
Early MayLate tulips; some fields already headed (cut) for the bulb

Because timing varies, the safest plan is to follow our weekly forecast and stay flexible by a few days if you can.

Why our forecast is different

Most “bloom forecasts” are guesses based on average dates. Ours isn’t. We live and work in the Bollenstreek, beside Keukenhof, and we check the fields in person. Every week from early March 2027 we publish:

  • The current state of the tulip, daffodil and hyacinth fields
  • Our expectation for the coming week
  • The latest weather outlook and how it affects the bloom
  • The best flower events happening that week

This is unique, first-hand data — the kind of up-to-date local knowledge that helps you pick the right week to travel.

Our weekly forecast also covers Keukenhof Gardens (open 18 March – 9 May 2027). Because Keukenhof’s seven million bulbs are planted in layers to flower across the whole season, the park looks beautiful every day it’s open — but what’s at its best changes weekly. We tell you what to expect inside the park in the week ahead. Plan your Keukenhof visit »

Can I still see tulips in early March or mid-May?

Early March is usually too early for field tulips (you’ll see crocuses and daffodils), and by mid-May many fields have been topped for the bulb. Mid-April to early May is the reliable window.
