Flower Forecast 2026 – Where & when will the Dutch tulips bloom?

EnglishDeutschFrançaisNederlands

🌷 The tulip season is now. Every week during the season, Tulip Festival Amsterdam publishes a fresh field report with bloom status, photos from the Bollenstreek, and everything you need to plan your visit. Book your shuttle from Amsterdam or Keukenhof tickets in advance — peak days sell out quicky.

Flower Forecast: 5 May 2026

The production fields have now been topped — the flower heads are removed to direct the plant’s energy back into the bulb, growing the best quality tulip bulbs for next season. But the show gardens are still looking absolutely gorgeous, and with Tulip Festival Amsterdam ending on 10 May, there is less than one week left to enjoy them.

Keukenhof Gardens is still beautiful right now — the trees are turning a lush green and there are still plenty of tulips in bloom for stunning photos. Tulip Experience, Tulip Farm De Tulperij, and Tulip Barn are all open through 10 May — and unlike the production fields, these attraction tulips are topped later in the season, so you can still enjoy fields full of colour.

🔮 Final week outlook This is it — the last week of the 2026 tulip season. Visit before 10 May to catch the final blooms of the year. We’ll be back in spring 2027 with a fresh season of Flower Forecasts.

Whether you’re visiting independently or joining a guided tour from Amsterdam — now is the time.

Tulip Bloom Forecast for 2026

The table below shows the expected bloom periods for each flower type, based on historical averages. Peak tulip season typically runs from the second week of April through early May — but conditions can shift with the weather. Ready to plan your visit? *We try to predict the flowering of the flowers as well as possible. However, the bloom continues to be influenced by nature. Due to weather conditions the flowering process can be different than what we expect.

The blooming of the flowers at Keukenhof Gardens and other tulip show gardens is different from the blooming of the production flower fields. The flowers at the flower gardens have been specifically chosen to ensure that blooming flowers can be seen from the opening (19 March) to the closure (10 May) of the park. Also, the tulips are not headed so the tulips can be admired much longer in Keukenhof than on the production flower fields around the park. Keep in mind that even in show gardens, weather is an important factor and no guarantees can be made about the flowers blooming.

The flower map below shows what the flower fields currently look like and where they are located. We will update the Flower Map every week with current photos of the blooms in the flower fields.

Weather forecast

Below is the current weather in Holland. During the Tulip Festival, we will also provide tips on activities to suit the weather conditions.

Tulip show gardens — tickets & entry

The flower fields are for the production of flower bulbs. It is therefore forbidden to take photos in the flower fields. However, there are several tulip attractions where it is possible to take great photos among the tulips. To visit a tulip attraction, you will need a ticket. Popular show gardens like the Keukenhof Gardens often sell out. We therefore recommend booking your visit in advance and buying your ticket on time!

Flower Forecast: 29 April 2026

🌷 Flower Forecast — 29 April 2026

Most open fields have now been topped, but the show gardens are still looking absolutely gorgeous — and with Tulip Festival Amsterdam ending on 10 May, there are less than two weeks left to enjoy them.

Keukenhof Gardens is stunning right now — millions of bulbs still in full colour and well worth a visit. Tulip Experience, Tulip Farm De Tulperij, and Tulip Barn are also all open through 10 May, each offering their own unique take on Dutch flower culture.

🔮 Outlook until 10 May Good news for late visitors: cooler nights are slowing the bloom cycle slightly, which means the show gardens are expected to have beautiful flowering tulips right through closing day on 10 May. A great reason not to put off that visit any longer.

Flower Forecast: 22 April 2026

Peak bloom is here — and the timing couldn’t be better.

The tulip season is at its absolute best right now. Keukenhof GardensTulip ExperienceTulip Barn, and Tulip Farm De Tulperij are all in full, glorious bloom — and the cool spring weather is keeping it that way. We expect stunning displays at all major attractions through at least May 10.

Dress for spring, not summer. Plenty of sunshine this week, but temperatures are running below average. Warm in the sun, chilly in the wind — pack a light jacket or go for layers.

A note on the fields: The open production fields are entering the topping phase — farmers are cutting the earliest varieties to protect the bulbs. Some fields that were spectacular last week are already bare. The tulip attractions are your best bet for guaranteed colour right now.

Want to find the fields that are still blooming? The guided bike tours are led by locals who know exactly where to go this week.

Flower Forecast: 2 April 2026

The Tulip Festival is in full swing! 🌷

Daffodil and hyacinth fields are currently in full bloom across the Bollenstreek, filling the region with colour and fragrance. The production tulip fields are not yet in bloom — cooler temperatures and less sunshine over the past week have slightly slowed the season, bringing us back to an average bloom schedule. The main tulip spectacle is expected from the second week of April through the end of April.

🌸 Easter weekend tip: Keukenhof is a great choice right now — daffodils, hyacinths and early tulips are flowering in the outdoor gardens, with spectacular floral shows in the pavilions. Note: individual Keukenhof tickets are sold out around Easter. Check our tips if Keukenhof is sold out.

🌷 Best tulip fields right now: Head to the Tulip Barn in Hillegom — a paid tulip garden with pre-cooled bulbs, meaning beautiful blooms regardless of the season’s timing. Reachable by rental bike, taxi from Keukenhof, or on foot (3 km from Keukenhof / 2 km from Hillegom train station). Book your tickets in advance.

Flower Forecast: 26 March 2026

The tulip season is progressing well across the Bollenstreek, though the cold spell this week has slowed things down slightly compared to the pace we saw earlier in the month.

Daffodil fields are still widely in bloom, bringing bright yellow colour to the landscape. Hyacinth fields are now broadly open across the region — this week is a great moment to experience their fragrance and colour at their peak. The first early tulips are now emerging from the ground and developing steadily.

Keukenhof Gardens and the show gardens are open and looking beautiful, with daffodils, hyacinths and early tulips already in full display.

Flower Forecast: 19 March 2026

The tulip season has officially started, and spring is now clearly visible across the Dutch flower region.

Daffodil fields are in full bloom, colouring large parts of the Bollenstreek bright yellow. The first hyacinth fields are now also blooming, adding vibrant colours and a wonderful fragrance to the landscape.

Thanks to the mild temperatures over the past weeks, the season is still running slightly ahead of schedule. The tulip fields are growing steadily, and the first early tulips are expected to bloom soon.

Keukenhof and other show gardens are now open, where visitors can already enjoy blooming crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths and the first early tulips.

This is a great moment to visit the region and experience the start of the flower season.

Flower Forecast: 12 March 2026

Spring is clearly gaining momentum in the Dutch tulip region. Over the past week, temperatures have been above average, which has helped accelerate the growth of the spring flowers across the Bollenstreek.

As a result, more and more daffodil fields are now in bloom, creating the first bright yellow landscapes of the season. The first hyacinth fields are also beginning to show colour, adding soft shades of pink, purple and white to the flower fields.

Compared to an average year, the bloom is currently running about one week ahead of schedule. If the weather remains favourable, we expect the colours in the region to increase quickly in the coming weeks.

In the show gardens, visitors can expect blooming crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths and possibly the first early tulips when the gardens open on 19 March. Check the table below for the expected bloom periods of the different spring flowers.

Flower Forecast: 5 March 2026

Spring is slowly arriving in the Dutch tulip region. After several days of beautiful spring weather, the outlook for the coming weeks remains promising. The nights are still relatively cold, which is actually good news, as it helps slow down the growth of the flowers and keeps the blooming period nicely spread throughout the season.

Across the Bollenstreek, the first early daffodil fields are beginning to show their bright yellow colours. If these weather conditions continue, we expect blooming daffodil fields by the start of Tulip Festival Amsterdam on 19 March, and possibly even the first hyacinth field.

In the show gardens, visitors can expect blooming crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths and the first early tulips. Check the table below for the expected bloom periods of the different spring flowers.

🌷 Next Flower Forecast: 12 March

Flower Forecast: 19 February 2026

Winter is still very much present in the Netherlands, with occasional snowfall reminding us that spring is not here just yet. Beneath the surface, however, the bulb fields are slowly preparing for the new season. In several locations, the first green shoots of early daffodils have already emerged — an encouraging sign.

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly in the coming week, which will certainly support further growth. However, it is still too early to make a reliable prediction about the start of flowering or the official opening of the tulip season.

The next Flower Forecast will be published on 5 March, when we expect to have a clearer picture of how the season is developing.

Flower Forecast: 16 January 2026

At the moment, the flower fields in the Bollenstreek are still in winter rest. The fields are covered with grass and straw, which protect the flower bulbs during the colder months. Beneath this layer, millions of tulip, hyacinth and daffodil bulbs are already planted and developing underground.

First tulip bulbs being planted for Tulip Festival 2026

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had perfect weather for planting flower bulbs. Planting is expected to continue until Christmas, ensuring a breathtakingly colorful landscape this spring.

The blooming period of flowers in spring depends heavily on weather conditions. At this moment, we cannot make exact predictions, so we rely on the average blooming periods. In the show gardens, blooming flowers can typically be admired throughout the season, as these gardens plant bulbs with varying blooming times.
