Where are the tulip fields located?
The largest concentration of tulip fields near Amsterdam is in the Bollenstreek (the “bulb region”), a strip of sandy soil between Haarlem and Leiden, with Keukenhof in Lisse at its heart. The main field areas to look for:
- Lisse, right around Keukenhof itself
- Hillegom, just north of Lisse
- Noordwijkerhout and De Zilk, with wide open fields that are great for photos
- Voorhout and Sassenheim in the southern Bollenstreek
- Noordwijk (Noordwijk-Binnen), with fields close to the coast
The fields don’t all bloom at the same time, and growers plant in different spots from year to year, so the best locations change from week to week. That’s exactly why we update the map every week: to show you where the tulips are flowering right now.
Please respect the fields
The tulip fields are working farmland, grown for the bulb, not for visitors. Please enjoy them responsibly: stay on public roads and paths, never walk into a production field without the farmer’s permission, and don’t pick the flowers. Want that classic photo among the tulips? Head to one of the dedicated flower attractions and show gardens (marked on the map), such as Tulip Experience Amsterdam, The Tulip Barn or a tulip farm, where walking among the flowers is allowed.
See the fields the Dutch way

The fields are spread across the region, so the nicest way to explore them is by bike. Follow our own self-guided tulip bike tour from Amsterdam, rent a bike near Keukenhof, or join a guided tour for the stories behind the flowers. See all sightseeing tours along the fields »
