Where are the tulip fields in Amsterdam?

The most famous area with the most beautiful flower fields is around Keukenhof Tulip Gardens at only 40 kilometers from the centre of Amsterdam. The area is called ‘Bollenstreek‘.
The Bollenstreek is located behind the North Sea dunes, between the cities of Amsterdam, Leiden, Haarlem and The Hague. There are countless flower fields full of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. When will the flower fields bloom in Amsterdam?
The blooming of the flower fields is very depending on the weather conditions during the first months of the year. With ‘normal’ weather conditions the first flower fields will start blooming from Mid-March. Tulip season in Holland is normally focused from the end of March till the beginning of May but blooming can be one or two weeks earlier of later depending on mother nature.

The best flower fields are located near Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse and it is smart to combine your visit to the flower area with a visit to Keukenhof. The fields are close to cities like Amsterdam, Haarlem, Leiden, The Hague, Delft and Rotterdam.

The tulip fields are very easy to reach by car. The flower fields are located between the cities of Amsterdam, Haarlem, Leiden and The Hague and can be reached from these cities by car within 30 minutes.

During the tulip season, special buses run from various train stations to the flower fields. The buses stop at Keukenhof Gardens and from there you can enter the flower park or do a sightseeing tour along the tulip fields.
This bus to the tulip fields is an ideal option for traveling to the flower fields in Holland. The bus departs from various train stations in the Netherlands and takes you quickly and cheaply to the flower park. No, it is not allowed to walk through the flower fields, this causes damage to the flower bulbs. The flower fields are the property of the bulb growers. It is allowed to take pictures from the road. If you want unique photos in the flower fields, please visit a tulip farm.
