11 May 2023

11 May 2023 | Tulip Festival 2023 is almost over. At 7.30 pm on 14 May, this amazing tulip season will come to an end. The tulip fields, which are meant for flower bulb production, are almost all cut at the moment. The rain of the past few days did cause some damage to the tulips. Fortunately, flowering tulips can still be found. The trees are green, creating the romantic atmosphere that suits the last weekend so well. There are also extra performances in Keukenhof Gardens this weekend. With the sunny weather forecast, it promises to be a beautiful last weekend.

4 May 2023

4 May 2023 | Due to the cold spring, tulips are still blooming brilliantly. Keukenhof Gardens and tulip attractions such as the Tulip Experience Amsterdam, The Tulip Barn and Tulip Farm De Tulperij are still in full bloom. The tulip fields meant for flower bulb production are currently being cut. In this process, flower bulb growers remove the flowers from the stem to return the energy to the bulb so it can grow better. The new crop of tulip bulbs will then be harvested in June and July. You can pre-order these fresh tulip bulbs now. Look here for the selection of tulip bulbs.

26 april 2023

26 April 2023 | The tulip fields are currently blooming brilliantly in the Amsterdam area. The tulips in Keukenhof Gardens and at the tulip show gardens are also in full bloom. The late tulips are now slowly coming into colour. Because this spring is so cold, the tulips also stay beautiful longer which is of course good news for everyone who still wants to come and enjoy the tulips. The Tulip Festival will be open until Sunday 14 May 2023.

20 April 2023

20 April 2023 | The past few days have been less warm than predicted. Nevertheless, the tulips have continued to bloom. As a result, the tulip fields and show gardens are blooming brilliantly. In Keukenhof Gardens, more tulips are blooming every day. This is perfect for the upcoming Flower Parade weekend. Coming to see the tulips this weekend? Then keep in mind that it will be crowded and make sure you have bought your tickets in advance.

13 April 2023

13 April 2023 | At long last, more and more tulips are starting to bloom. We had to wait a little longer for it but currently more tulips are starting to bloom every day. Combined with the daffodils and hyacinths, this gives a unique colourful landscape. The tulips are now blooming at Keukenhof Gardens but also at the tulip show gardens and in the flower fields.

6 April 2023

6 April 2023 | The past few days have been wonderfully sunny in Holland. The temperature, especially at night and in the morning, did remain a bit on the low side. The flowers are slowly blooming and we are seeing more and more colour. The crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths are blooming and more and more tulips are getting colour. Most of the flowering tulips can currently be found in the Keukenhof Gardens as that is where they are best sheltered from the colder nights.

30 March 2023

30 March 2023 | With sunny weather forecasts combined with higher temperatures, we expect the number of colours in the flower fields to expand rapidly in the coming week. Crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths and (early) tulips are currently blooming. Towards the Easter weekend, more and more tulips will come into bloom. Together with the sunny weather forecast, this is perfect for a great Easter weekend. Most of the blooming tulips can be found in Keukenhof Gardens. Note: book your tickets in time. The first Keukenhof Gardens time slots over the Easter weekend are sold out and the helicopter tour on Saturday 8 April is also sold out.

23 March 2023

23 March 2023 | After a week of much rain and little sunshine in Holland, we are now ready for spring. The higher temperatures have been good for the flowers to bloom. Currently, crocuses and daffodils are mostly blooming. Hyacinths and early tulips are also showing their first colour. In Keukenhof Gardens, the blooms are ahead of those in the flower fields. This is because the flowers in the flower park are better sheltered by the trees and because early flower varieties are deliberately planted in the flower park. From today, 23 March, most tulip activities are open. Are you already coming to the flowers this weekend? Then be sure to visit the stunning flower shows in the greenhouses at Keukenhof and read our tips for visiting the flowers on a rainy day

16 March 2023

16 March 2023 | Last week was cold and there was a lot of rain in the Netherlands. This delayed the flowering of the flower fields a bit. The main color in the Bollenstreek (Dutch flower region) is currently yellow because of the first daffodil fields, the first hyacinths are about to bloom. In a week’s time, most flower activities will start. Higher temperatures are predicted this week and we really need them for the flowers to continue blooming.

9 March 2023 | It has been cold and wet in the Netherlands over the past week. There was a regular layer of white over the flower fields. Yet the flower fields are still growing. We see more and more green in the flower fields and we have even seen the first early hyacinths coming into bloom. In the coming week, temperatures will rise and the sun will also show itself more. This would be very positive for the flowers to bloom from the beginning of the season.

2 March 2023 | Holland’s flower fields are currently still in winter mode. However, we have already found the first blooming flowers on a small field in Lisse. A beautiful field of very early daffodils announces that spring is not long away. This variety of daffodil is an early bloomer. The other flower fields still lie quietly under a layer of straw. However, we do see the first green dots emerging on many fields. Just in time for the 2023 tulip season.

Flower Map 2023

The map below shows what the flower fields currently look like and where they are located. From the beginning of March till the beginning of May we will update the Flower Map weekly.

Expect flowering for spring 2023

The flower fields meant for bulb production have now almost all been cut. This involves removing the flower so that the energy is returned to the bulb so it can grow better. However, the tulips at Keukenhof Gardens are still in bloom. A lot of rain showers this week did damage the tulips a bit.

*We try to predict the flowering of the flowers as well as possible. However, the bloom continues to be influenced by nature. Due to weather conditions the flowering process can be different than what we expect.

The blooming of the flowers at Keukenhof Gardens and other tulip show gardens is different from the blooming of the production flower fields. The flowers at the flower gardens have been specifically chosen to ensure that blooming flowers can be seen from the opening (23 March) to the closure (14 May) of the park. Also, the tulips are not headed so the tulips can be admired much longer in Keukenhof than on the flower fields around the park. Keep in mind that even in show gardens, weather is an important factor and no guarantees can be made about the flowers blooming.

Weather forecast

Lovely spring weather is forecast this weekend. The predicted temperature is 20 degrees with lots of sunshine. Lovely weather to enjoy the last weekend of the Tulip Festival 2023.

Book your visit to one or more of the tulip show gardens

The flower fields are for the production of flower bulbs. It is therefore forbidden to take photos in the flower fields. However, there are several tulip attractions where it is possible to take great photos among the tulips. To visit a tulip attraction, you will need a ticket. Popular show gardens like the Keukenhof Gardens often sell out. We therefore recommend booking your visit in advance and buying your ticket on time!
