Flower forecast - 7 April 2022 - It's time for tulips in Holland

The weather was bad last week. From snow showers, storms to lots of rain. Fortunately, most flowers survived the bad weather conditions. At least they have had enough water now. From today on, the weather forecast is better with more sun and higher temperatures that belong to spring. With more and more tulips blooming, April promises to be a great month.

Current state of the tulip fields in Holland

We are glad that the flower fields have survived the bad weather. More and more tulips are starting to bloom. The coming days we will get more spring weather which will speed up the flowering of the tulips.

From the coming weekend, better weather is predicted. Temperatures will rise and the sun will show itself again regularly. This is very positive for the helicopter flights that will start on Saturday 9 April.

Flower Forecast 2022*

We expect flowering to be about 5 days ahead of average flowering.

This means we expect the following blooming periods for the flower fields:

Crocus – Most of the crocuses have finished flowering.
Daffoldils – Daffoldils fields from now till the third week of April.
Hyacints – Hyacint flower fields from now till the third week of April.
Tulips – More and more tulips are flowering. We expect the peak of the tulip bloom to be from next weekend until the beginning of May.

*We try to predict the flowering of the flowers as well as possible. However, the bloom continues to be influenced by nature. Due to weather conditions the flowering process can be different than what we expect.

**The above forecast applies to the flower fields. The flowering at Keukenhof and in the other show gardens will be the whole season. When planting, early and late blooming flowers were taken into account. Also, the flowers are not headed.

Blooming of the flowers at Keukenhof Gardens

The blooming of the flowers at Keukenhof Gardens is a bit different from the blooming of the flower fields. The flowers at the flower garden have been specifically chosen to ensure that blooming flowers can be seen from the opening (24 March) to the closure (15 May) of the park. Also, the tulips are not headed so the tulips can be admired much longer in Keukenhof than on the flower fields around the park. The same applies to tulip show gardens and tulip farms. They will probably all have tulips flowering until 15 May.

When booking your Keukenhof Gardens tickets, you must choose a specific date and time slot for entry. In 2025, Keukenhof will operate with a limited number of tickets per day and time slot. To secure your preferred visit, book your tickets in advance!

If your preferred date and time are unavailable, it means tickets are sold out. However, you can still visit by booking a Tulip Festival Card or a combination ticket with the Keukenhof Shuttle bus from Amsterdam Centre, various Keukenhof day tours from Amsterdam, or public transport buses, which often offer more availability on different dates and times.
