Flower forecast - 31 March 2022 - It's almost April

It’s almost April and that means time for tulips! On the flower fields and in Keukenhof Gardens we see more and more tulips coming into bloom. Due to the cold weather in Holland and the lack of rain, the growth has slowed down a bit but the landscape already looks very colourful. Tomorrow, 1 April, The Tulip Barn will open its doors to the public as the last flower attraction.

Current state of the tulip fields in Holland

The daffodils, crocuses, hyacinths and early tulips are in bloom. We expect to see more tulips in flower next week and in the second week of April more and more tulips will start to bloom.

The next few days it will still be a little colder than usual, but next week the temperatures will rise a little again.

Flower Forecast 2022*

We expect flowering to be about 7 days ahead of average flowering.

This means we expect the following blooming periods for the flower fields:

Crocus – blooming between now and end of March
Daffoldils – Daffoldils fields from now till the third week of April.
Hyacints – Hyacint flower fields from now till the third week of April.
Tulips – The first early tulips are blooming. Peak blooming will be between the second week of April till the end of April.

*We try to predict the flowering of the flowers as well as possible. However, the bloom continues to be influenced by nature. Due to weather conditions the flowering process can be different than what we expect.

**The above forecast applies to the flower fields. The flowering at Keukenhof and in the other show gardens will be the whole season. When planting, early and late blooming flowers were taken into account. Also, the flowers are not headed.

Blooming of the flowers at Keukenhof Gardens

The blooming of the flowers at Keukenhof Gardens is a bit different from the blooming of the flower fields. The flowers at the flower garden have been specifically chosen to ensure that blooming flowers can be seen from the opening (24 March) to the closure (15 May) of the park. Also, the tulips are not headed so the tulips can be admired much longer in Keukenhof than on the flower fields around the park. The same applies to tulip show gardens and tulip farms. They will probably all have tulips flowering until 15 May.

Keukenhof Gardens works with date and time-slot entry, with a limited number of tickets available per day. To secure your preferred visit, we strongly recommend booking your tickets in advance. Online tickets are also cheaper than at the door — adults save € 3.50 per ticket.

If your chosen date or time is unavailable, it means regular tickets are sold out. Don’t worry — there are still alternative ways to visit Keukenhof.
