Expected Flowering in Spring 2025

Flowering is currently following the average seasonal pattern. The upcoming days and nights will be slightly warmer, which will support flower growth. At this stage, we expect the blooming to continue in line with the typical flowering timeline.

*We try to predict the flowering of the flowers as well as possible. However, the bloom continues to be influenced by nature. Due to weather conditions the flowering process can be different than what we expect.

The blooming of the flowers at Keukenhof Gardens and other tulip show gardens is different from the blooming of the production flower fields. The flowers at the flower gardens have been specifically chosen to ensure that blooming flowers can be seen from the opening (20 March) to the closure (11 May) of the park. Also, the tulips are not headed so the tulips can be admired much longer in Keukenhof than on the production flower fields around the park. Keep in mind that even in show gardens, weather is an important factor and no guarantees can be made about the flowers blooming.

The flower map below shows what the flower fields currently look like and where they are located. We will update the Flower Map every week with current photos of the blooms in the flower fields.

Weather forecast

Below is the current weather in Holland. During the Tulip Festival, we will also provide tips on activities to suit the weather conditions.

Book your visit to one or more of the tulip show gardens

The flower fields are for the production of flower bulbs. It is therefore forbidden to take photos in the flower fields. However, there are several tulip attractions where it is possible to take great photos among the tulips. To visit a tulip attraction, you will need a ticket. Popular show gardens like the Keukenhof Gardens often sell out. We therefore recommend booking your visit in advance and buying your ticket on time!

March 13 | Countdown to Tulip Festival 2025

In just one week, the Tulip Festival will begin! The countdown is on, and nature is preparing for a spectacular start. While temperatures have dropped slightly in recent days, the sun is still shining, creating ideal conditions for steady flower growth.  Right now, the flower fields are transforming with vibrant yellows from the daffodil fields, while crocuses add purple and white accents to the landscape. Hyacinths are beginning to emerge, and we may even spot the first early tulips in some areas. Despite the colder nights, spring flowers continue to develop beautifully.

With a week to go before the Keukenhof gardens and other tulip show gardens open, we expect a stunning display of daffodils, crocuses, hyacinths, and possibly early tulips to welcome visitors.

Looking further ahead, next week’s cooler temperatures might slightly slow down growth, but for now, we remain optimistic about a balanced and colorful start to the tulip season. We will keep monitoring the weather to see how it impacts the peak tulip bloom later in spring.

Stay tuned for more updates, and get ready to enjoy a breathtaking spring in the Netherlands! 🌷✨

March 6 | Just Two Weeks Until Tulip Festival!

In just two weeks, the Tulip Festival will begin! Thanks to a mild winter and the current beautiful spring weather, we’re expecting a spectacular start to the season. With daytime temperatures now well above 10°C and plenty of sunshine, we’re already seeing the first colors appear in the flower fields. At the moment, it’s mostly the early daffodil fields turning yellow. However, cold nights are still slightly slowing down overall flower growth.

With sunny weather and mild temperatures, we expect steady flower growth in the coming week. Blooming is currently about one week ahead of the average schedule, meaning that by the festival’s opening, we anticipate a vibrant display of daffodils, crocuses, hyacinths, and possibly even some early tulips. A perfect way to welcome spring!

For the main tulip season, predictions remain uncertain. Weather forecasts indicate colder temperatures next week, which could slow down growth. At this stage, we still expect tulips to bloom around their average schedule, but we will continue to monitor conditions closely.

20 February | Spring is on its way

Spring is coming, and excitement for Tulip Festival Amsterdam 2025 is growing! With just one month until the official opening on March 20, the first signs of spring are already appearing. Early crocuses and daffodils are emerging, and with mild temperatures expected to continue, we may see an early tulip bloom this year.

While tulip blooming is still dependent on the weather conditions in March, April, and May, we expect that by the opening day on March 20, there will be plenty of beautiful flowers to admire – and possibly even some early tulips. For the bloom period until May 11, we will continue to monitor the weather closely and provide updates as the season progresses.

16 January 2025 | Tulip bulbs planted and ready for spring

Millions of flower bulbs have been planted and are now resting during their winter hibernation. In the flower fields, a layer of straw protects the bulbs from potential frost. Over the past months, planting conditions were favorable, allowing the bulbs to root well. The weather forecast for the coming month looks promising, with moderately cold temperatures.

However, it is still too early to make an accurate prediction about the bloom this spring. We will share an update on flowering conditions in early February. Stay tuned by following us on FacebookInstagram and TikTok.

21 November 2024 | 🌷 Bulb planting in full swing

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had perfect weather for planting flower bulbs. Both the hand planting of 7 million bulbs at Keukenhof Gardens and the machine planting of the tulip fields are progressing on schedule. Planting is expected to continue until Christmas, ensuring a breathtakingly colorful landscape this spring.

The blooming period of flowers in spring depends heavily on weather conditions. At this moment, we cannot make exact predictions, so we rely on the average blooming periods. In the show gardens, blooming flowers can typically be admired throughout the season, as these gardens plant bulbs with varying blooming times. Below, you’ll find an overview of the average and expected blooming periods for flowers in Holland.
