DESCRIPTION:English – Deutsch – Français – Nederlands \n\n\n\n\n\nAt the end of the Winter Festival Amsterdam\, it is time to start the tulip season. This is celebrated every year with the National Tulip Day. During this day you can pick a bunch of tulips for free on the Museumplein (Museum Square) in the centre of Amsterdam.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStay up to date with the Tulip Festival Amsterdam and follow us on Facebook\, Instagram and TikTok. \n\n\n\n\n\nIt’s the third Saturday in January: National Tulip Day\n\n\n\nIf you are in Amsterdam on the third Saturday in January you are very lucky. Normally there are no blooming tulips to enjoy in January but on the third Saturday of January it’s National Tulip Day in Amsterdam! With this unique event the Dutch are celebrating the start of the tulip season. From that day the tulip flowers will be promoted at the flower shops. \n\n\n\nVisitors are allowed to pick tulips for free in a specially designed tulip pick-up garden. There will be around 200.000 tulips in the free pick-up garden. \n\n\n\nTheme 2026: United in Bloom\n\n\n\nThe theme for National Tulip Day 2026 is United in Bloom. Follow us on Facebook\, Instagram and TikTok for the latest news. \n\n\n\nPhoto’s with tulips in January\n\n\n\nThe pick-up garden is perfect to collect some beautiful tulips for you hotelroom but you also can take great pictures with blooming tulips. \n\n\n\nTulip Day in figures\n\n\n\n\nIn 2026 its the 14th year that National Tulip Day will be held\n\n\n\nIn 2025 there where 18.000 visitors enjoying and picking the blooming tulips\n\n\n\nMore than 100 nationalities did visit the pick-up garden in 2025\n\n\n\n30 national and international tv and radio stations talked about Tulip Day in 2025\n\n\n\n\nTulips in January?\n\n\n\nThe tulips that you can pick-up at the tulip garden are grown indoors. In big greenhouses farmers are growing tulips from November / December. The tulip fields near Amsterdam only start to bloom at the end of March.
