Between 1639 and 1658, Rembrandt resided and worked in this historic Amsterdam residence, where he amassed an extensive collection of seashells alongside his artwork.

Displayed alongside military artifacts and Roman busts, the museum offers an authentic glimpse into Rembrandt's life and interests, including works by his aspiring pupils.

Take a look at the museum's period-specific furniture, art, and objects, providing insight into the artist's world and the influence of Rembrandt in the world of art.

Accessibility:

The museum is partly accessible to people with disabilities. The main entrance, museum shop, auditorium, toilets, and exhibition halls are fully accessible to all visitors. Plus there's an elevator in the new wing. However, the 17th-century house of Rembrandt has no elevator or other facilities available for disabled people and is therefore not very accessible.

There were far too many people. You couldn’t even get into some of the rooms because of the volume of people. This wasn’t helped by them letting in people who had tickets for the next day! They also did not apply the bag policy uniformly - the sign says no backpacks. I had a very small cross shoulder bag which I was asked to put in a locker yet someone else had one very similar and was allowed to keep it with them.
